Data Backup
Two things that you need to remember when it comes to your Company’s IT. That is that data backup and disaster recovery is paramount.
Ask yourself these questions:
- Are you backing up your company data?
- If you are, are you sure you are backing up the correct data?
- Do you know your backup is working?
- Could you recover if you premises burn down?
The majority of businesses go under because of the lack of disaster recovery and backup solutions.
There are various ways to backup your data.
The three most common options are:
USB/External Hard-drive
This is the most basic of backup. The user copies the data manually onto a USB key or external Hard-drive. However it relies on the user remembering to do it. And if that user is busy then more often than not its forgotten about. Unfortunately its when that backup isn’t done that something bad happens.
Tape Backup
Backing onto tape has been around for along time now, but it’s still regarded by many as the way to go when backing up data. The user changes the tapes over every day for the backup to run on a night. However it can be expensive once you have bought the tape drive, media + software.
Online Backup
Online data backup allows you to backup your data to a secure remote site without any need for tape changes/user interaction. This is usually ideal for the smaller business as costs are generally lower and there is no capital expenditure.
Either can be setup by Murtek IT, however we do specialise in the Online Backup.
